MAY 27, WASHINGTON, DC -The Caspian Policy Center (CPC) hosted the Kyrgyz Republic’s newly appointed Ambassador to the United States, Edil Baisalov, along with representatives of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Washington, D.C., for a discussion on Kyrgyzstan’s economic trajectory, investment climate, and evolving regional role in Central Asia. CPC President and Chief Executive Officer Efgan Nifti opened the event with welcoming remarks, followed by an introduction of Ambassador Baisalov by Chairman of the CPC Board Ambassador (ret.) Richard Hoagland.

Moderated by CPC Senior Fellow for Caspian Affairs Dr. Eric Rudenshiold, the conversation explored the current state of U.S.-Kyrgyzstan relations, regional connectivity and trade opportunities, and the broader geopolitical and economic challenges shaping Central Asia. Ambassador Baisalov highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s recent economic growth, ongoing reform efforts, and the country’s potential to serve as an increasingly important partner in regional development and transcontinental connectivity initiatives.

The discussion also underscored the growing strategic importance of Central Asia amid shifting global supply chains and expanding interest in regional integration. Following the formal discussion, attendees engaged Ambassador Baisalov in an interactive question-and-answer session focused on regional cooperation, investment opportunities, and the future of U.S. engagement in Central Asia.
