This year has been a busy and eventful one for the Caspian Region, and by extension the Caspian Policy Center (CPC). We have spent the year covering the growing importance of our region’s energy and critical mineral resources, increasing regional cooperation, the build out of the Middle Corridor, geo-political shifts enveloping the South Caucasus, and the on-going impacts of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
The Caspian region is undergoing profound transformation. Central Asian countries are experiencing a period of rapid change, strengthening cooperation to address shared challenges and capitalize on emerging economic opportunities. The C5+1 Presidential Summit in Washington, D.C., marking the 10th anniversary of the format, represented a pivotal moment in U.S.–Central Asia relations. At the same time, the peace agreement signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan – also in Washington, D.C. - has reshaped regional dynamics and ushered in a new era of coexistence and stability. With Azerbaijan’s formal integration into the Central Asia Consultative Meetings framework, the C5 has evolved into the C6, signaling deeper regional cooperation and enhanced integration for Trans-Caspian connectivity.
CPC’s focus allows us to provide meticulous reporting and analyses of these changes. We continue to produce weekly newsletters, long reports, audio and video content, and regular short timely pieces of analysis. The following document represents our summary of this year, broken down by country and drawn from our weekly-media highlights with short summaries of the major trends that 2025 saw.
At CPC we look forward to providing our readership with our coverage of the region.
