Kazakhstan’s Oil Delivered to Germany 

 On February 25, KazTransOil JSC delivered 20 thousand tons of oil into the Transneft PJSC pipeline system to be transported to Germany.  This was part of an agreement signed in December 2022 to transport 1.2 million tons of oil from Kazakhstan to Germany through Russia’s Transneft pipeline system.

Uzbekistan and Pakistan Establish Trade Agreement Worth $1 Billion

On February 24, during the 8th meeting of the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Inter-governmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation (IGC) in Tashkent, Pakistan and Uzbekistan signed an agreement toward enhancing bilateral trade. The agreement worth $1 billion was headed by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, and Pakistan’s Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

Kazakhstan Closes Trade Representation in Russia

Kazakhstan has ceased its trade representation in Russia in order to optimize the work of government agencies. It was reported that the existing institutional framework in Russia enables Kazakhstani businesses to operate in a favorable environment, eliminating the need for a separate trade representation.

Increase in Cargo Turnover Between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan

Baku International Sea Trade Port announced that the total volume of cargo turnover of the port to 6 million 314 thousand tons, marking a 13.6% increase from 2021. The cargo turnover between the main Turkmen and Azerbaijani ports accounted for 53% of the total, while the turnover with the main Kazakh ports accounted for 38%.

Turkmenistan and Bahrain Sign Rail Agreement

On February 23, Turkmenistan Railway and Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications signed a Memorandum of Understanding on several railway connectivity and economic projects. As part of the International North-South Transportation Corridor, these agreements will help Turkmenistan gain increased access to Qatar, Bahrain, and the larger Middle East.

Uzbekistani Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology Signs Memorandum with AzerGold

The Uzbek Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology and AzerGold CJSC signed a memorandum of understanding at the first Uzbekistani-Azerbaijani Interregional Forum Tashkent. The agreement outlines cooperation efforts to study precious metal ore deposits in Uzbekistan. AzerGold CJSC will assist in providing mutual technical and logistical support for developing gold deposit exploration.

U.S. Secretary of State to Visit Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and India This Week

The U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken will travel to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and India February 28 - March 3. After meeting senior Kazakh officials, Secretary Blinken will participate in a C5+1 Ministerial—a meeting which will include the five members of the Central Asian states. The C5+1 Ministerial meeting will focus on cooperation in areas such as collaboration on global challenges, energy, security, environmental issues and the economy. After the C5+1, Secretary Blinken will make official visits to Tashkent and New Delhi.

Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom Held Bilateral Dialogues

The Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom (UK) held two-day Structural Dialogue on bilateral relations. In the meeting, Turkmen Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vepa Hajiyev led the Turkmen delegation, while the Deputy Head of the Department of Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the British Foreign Ministry, Justin McKenzie Smith presided over the UK delegation. The leaders covered topics including cooperation in regional trade and economics, proposed inter-parliamentary relations, and issues related to the situation in Afghanistan. Both sides emphasized creating stronger ties, especially in the trade sector.

Kazakhstan Backs China's ‘Peace in Ukraine’ Settlement Statement

On February 24, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China released ‘China’s Position on the Political Settlement of the Ukraine Crisis,’ which underlined the importance of ‘respecting the sovereignty of all countries’ and abandoning the Cold War mentality. Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed approval of this doctrine, stating its “worthy of approval.”

Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan Explore Cooperation in Multilateral Platforms

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Tumysh and the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kazakhstan Agalar Atamoglanov discussed potential areas of cooperation between the two countries. Specifically, cooperation within the framework of multilateral platforms was discussed, including through organizations such as the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement.
